This year I'm making some New Year's resolutions. This is another first for me. My resolutions for 2010 are;
1. Quit smoking
2. Go to the gym
3. Eat healthily
Three fairly simple tasks which will have a large, positive impact on my health. I quit smoking for 3 months earlier this year, so I'm not worried about that one. Also I go to the gym sometimes already, I just need to make it more of a regular thing. The healthy eating part will be a little more difficult though as I do enjoy a good Bacon sandwich!!
So... maybe I should introduce myself properly...
My name is AdamAt the moment Laura and I share a house with our friends Joe and Mel in Fulwood (Preston), but on January 10th we're moving out. Laura and I are going to stay in my Mum's loft for a couple of weeks whilst we look for our own place (fun fun).
Anyway, I'm 22 years old (my birthday is May 20th if you're interested). I work as a support worker for people with learning difficulties in a Domicilary setting. Basically, they live in their own homes (usually 2 - 4 people rent a house together) and we go to their house to support them. It's a very rewarding job and one that I am very lucky to have. I have done this job for 4 years, since I left college.
I went to college for 2 years, the first year I did Music and I dropped out shortly before the end of the year. I was so behind in my work due to skipping lessons and smoking Cannabis that I decided it was for the best. The second year I went to do A levels in Psychology, Film, Media and Photography. I completed my first year but didn't get good grades really, again due to skipping lessons and smoking Weed. I smoked Cannabis for about 5 years, pretty much every day. At the worst point I was selling it and going through about £100 worth of it a week (at least). Then, when I was about 20, I started to hear voices, partially due to the Weed and partialy due to lack of sleep I think. Then I got this headache that lasted for 3 months straight. I've never touched drugs since. Losing my sanity is the thing I'm most afraid of.
I'm told that I am a very cynical person (mainly by Laura). I always look for faults in things, not because I like to do so, but so that I can be prepared if things don't go to plan. It drives Laura crazy. On the other hand I can be very laid-back and easy going, sometimes too laid back, I do tend to endulge in a fair bit of procrastination.
There are a few things that annoy me. One thing in particular is ignorance, especially when people pretend to be very knowledgable about a subject and then you find out that really, they know nothing. Another pet hate of mine is people underestimating me. I find that middle aged people tend to be the biggest offenders, they seem to have an 'I'm older so I know better' attitude. For some reason they seem to think that just because I'm fairly young and I don't have a degree, that I must be stupid. Get over yourselves.
So, yeah. That's about all there is to know about me. I'd best be off to bed now, I may be back tomorrow with a little update, so, until then... Goodbye. =) xx
Good luck on the new blogging venture. It has been very rewarding for me. I am amazed by the internet and its ability to carry my thoughts transatlantically.
